Mining and Mathematics counts and marks are aggregated from the supplied GATE Mining + Mathematics PYQ comparison workbook (2007–2026), Question ledger sheet. General Aptitude is added from the MinePrep question bank: 10 questions and 15 marks per year for 2010–2026; it is absent from the supplied 2007–2009 papers. Every chapter total reconciles to its full paper: 65 questions / 100 marks for 2010–2026, 60 / 100 for 2009, and 85 / 150 for 2007–2008. Chapter labels reflect the supplied classification. Repeat comparisons cover Mining and Mathematics only; GA has not been analysed for repeats. Close repeats/templates are conservative identified matches, not proof of copying, and concept overlaps are counted separately. The 2007 comparison is unavailable because the supplied history begins in 2007.

Repeat comparison: what the numbers mean

A close repeat or template uses substantially the same problem structure, requested result and solution procedure, sometimes with different values. A concept overlap shares a specific concept but requires a materially different task. Similarity does not prove that exam setters copied a previous question. The supplied comparison covers Mining and Mathematics only; General Aptitude is not included in repeat counts.

  • Each target year is compared only with earlier supplied papers.
  • Each question is counted once in its strongest confirmed category.
  • Unconfirmed means no sufficiently close earlier match was confirmed; it does not prove the question is new.
  • 2007 is a baseline with no earlier paper in the supplied corpus.

Use the analysis to plan practice

Use chapter distribution to balance revision, and practise both familiar templates and different applications of the same concepts. Historical frequency is not a prediction of the next examination.
